Terms of Service

Welcome to Handle (“Handle”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Handle website, apps, and related services, collectively the “Service”.

By creating an account, accessing, or using Handle, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Handle Is

Handle is a platform for basketball players and hoopers to:

  • Create and share a public player profile
  • Be rated by other users on basketball-related attributes, such as ball handling, IQ, shooting, defense, and athleticism
  • View ratings and other community-generated information about players

Handle does not guarantee any athletic opportunities, scholarships, contracts, or exposure results.

2. Eligibility

To use Handle, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, and
  • Have the power to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. If you use Handle on behalf of an organization, for example as a coach or trainer, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Your Account

3.1 Registration

To use many features, you must create an account with a valid email address, a password, a unique username, and other optional basketball profile info, such as city, position, height, weight, play style, and bio. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

  • Notify us promptly at support@joinhandle.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account, and
  • Not share your password or sell or transfer your account to another person.

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to secure your account.

4. User Content & Community Ratings

4.1 Your Content

“User Content” means any information, ratings, text, photos, or other material you submit, post, or display on or through the Service, including your profile info and ratings you submit about other users.

You retain ownership of your User Content. However, by submitting User Content to Handle, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable license to use, host, store, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the Service.

You are responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that you have all rights necessary to post it.

4.2 Community Ratings Are Opinions

Ratings on Handle are user-generated opinions, not facts. They do not represent the views of Handle. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or fairness of any ratings or opinions posted by users, and you understand that some users may disagree with or find ratings inaccurate or unflattering.

You agree not to rely on Handle ratings as the sole basis for any important decision, for example recruiting or signing a contract.

5. Community Conduct

You agree not to use Handle to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or target other users
  • Post hate speech, slurs, or content that discriminates based on protected characteristics
  • Post obscene, sexually explicit, or pornographic content
  • Doxx or share private information about others without consent
  • Spam, manipulate ratings, or create fake accounts to artificially inflate or deflate scores
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Upload content you do not own or do not have rights to, for example copyrighted photos or logos belonging to others

We may, in our sole discretion and without notice, remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Rights

The Handle Service, including our logo, branding, design, and underlying software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Except for your own User Content, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service without our prior written consent.

6.2 Your Rights

You may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes, unless we agree in writing otherwise, and only as permitted by these Terms and applicable laws.

7. Third-Party Services

Handle uses third-party services and infrastructure, for example hosting, authentication, and analytics. Your use of those services may be subject to additional terms and privacy practices of those third parties. We are not responsible for any third-party websites or services that are linked to or from Handle.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any ratings or content will be accurate or reliable. You use Handle at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Handle and its owners, officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so these limits may not apply to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using Handle at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you violated these Terms or our Community Guidelines, your use may harm us or other users, or we are required to do so by law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service stops immediately. Certain sections of these Terms, including those regarding User Content, disclaimers, and limitations of liability, will survive termination.

11. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and may provide additional notice, such as in-app notice or email.

If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
